Helping Hands 2011
Helping Hands 2011: Honoring Reverend Richard V. Warner, C.S.C.
In Service to a Better World
If we are truly fortunate, we meet those rare individuals whose presence fills us with serenity, peace, and the belief that all things are possible.
They inspire us to become better simply by what they do and what they accomplish, without fanfare, or pretense, demonstrating by their actions that there is decency, kindness and goodness in the world. People who make a powerful and positive difference, and who leave a lasting - and joyous - impact on the lives of everyone they encounter.
Such a person is Father Richard Warner.
His endless, selfless devotion to the Catholic Church, the University of Notre Dame, and the Congregation of Holy Cross reflects his commitment to their worthy and humanitarian ideals.
More than 375 guests gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn on May 4, 2011 to honor Rev. Richard V. Warner, C.S.C., this year's Helping Hands Award recipient, at the 27th annual event.
Co-chairs Phil and Mary Newbold began the evening by recognizing the many contributions Father Warner has to made not only to the local community but around the world.
Hospice Foundation President/CEO, Mark Murray, noted that, "Back in 1980, we made a pledge to this community that no person who was eligible and desired hospice services would be turned away due to an inability to pay. This is still true today, thanks to you and people like you, and because of special events like this annual Helping Hands dinner. Proceeds from tonight's dinner go directly to our Hospice Foundation and permit us to continue to provide hospice and other supportive services to people and families regardless of diagnosis, whether or not they have health insurance, or an ability to pay for their care. We are so grateful to each of you here tonight who help us achieve our mission."
