On October 26, Center for Hospice Care dedicated the memorial items donated to Center for Hospice Care’s Veterans Memorial in honor of military loved ones. The event began with the Posting of the Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance. Medal of Honor Recipient James McCloughan began his talk by asking veterans in attendance to stand and be recognized, followed by first responders. McCloughan went on to deliver touching remarks about his service, and reminded everybody that the true heroes are the ones that did not return to their families.
Larry Rice, a spiritual care coordinator at Center for Hospice Care, dedicated the donated bricks, plaques and trees. After the ceremony, loved ones gathered to take pictures of the donated items and then attended a brief reception..
As a “We Honor Veterans” Level 4 Partner, Center for Hospice Care is pleased to create an opportunity for loved ones to honor their veterans in a special, permanent way. The Veterans Memorial offers many opportunities for people to honor and remember their loved ones. There are memorial bricks and wall plaques available for placement at the memorial during future dedication ceremonies. There are also naming opportunities available for other components of the memorial; including benches, flagpoles, trees, entry arbors, or “Poppies,” the centerpiece statue.
