Elkhart Campaign
Elkhart’s Legacy of Compassion
CHC Elkhart Campus Renovation and Expansion
Elkhart is known for its proactive business leaders who join forces as visionary philanthropists. These community-minded individuals who live and work in Elkhart often come together and make things happen in short order. Center for Hospice Care’s Elkhart campus is a prime example of the collective vision of such generous community leaders.
As our Elkhart campus enters its 17th year, we are focusing on a special fundraising effort for a campus renovation to meet patient care needs and to honor the vision of those who generously supported its establishment.
Why This Campaign?
Now more than ever, we need to invest in the campus to meet the growing and diverse needs of the community. Our $1 million campaign will enhance our Elkhart facilities and infrastructure, ensuring a safe, accessible and welcoming environment for patients, families and staff.
Building on a Legacy of Compassion
The Elkhart campus has been a cornerstone of care in the community, serving as a place of comfort and support for patients and families facing life’s most challenging moments. An essential part of this is Esther’s House, a seven-bed inpatient unit that provides short-term medical care for symptom management or respite care for families. It is named in honor of Esther Strefling, and was made possible by a generous donation from the Strefling Foundation.
Over the years, many individuals, families and organizations have supported our vision for the Elkhart campus. The countless contributions to support Esther’s House and our Gardens of Remembrance and Renewal highlight the community’s commitment to creating a space for comfort and reflection.
The Impact of CHC in Elkhart County
Center for Hospice Care has served over 15,000 patients in Elkhart County since adding it to our service area. Esther’s House has served over 2,500 patients since 2008. More than 5,000 bereavement clients have found comfort and guidance through programs offered at the Elkhart campus.
Key Projects and Needs
The planned Elkhart campus improvements include new furnishings and updates to patient and family areas, improving security and accessibility, advanced technology for safety and monitoring, facility infrastructure and outdoor area improvements.
This project represents CHC’s commitment to providing a space that embodies compassion and care for patients, families and staff.
