One out of four patients in the care of Center for Hospice Care (CHC) has served in a branch of the United States military. CHC’s priority of providing quality care to all includes focusing on its veteran patients and their loved ones. Hospice Foundation’s 2021 Friends of Hospice appeal is dedicated to providing financial support to continue integrating veteran-specific approaches as we care for those who have served in the military. Veteran-specific content is added into CHC’s staff and volunteer orientation and education as a result of this ongoing effort.

CHC recently expanded its participation in the “We Honor Veterans” program by achieving Level 5 designation. “We Honor Veterans” is a collaboration between the Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. Its purpose is to raise awareness among veterans of the end-of-life services and benefits available to them. CHC is proud to be a Vietnam War Commemorative Partner with the Department of Defense.

“Our goal is to address veterans’ end-of-life needs, and to serve them as they have served us,” said Mike Wargo, Hospice Foundation Chief Operating Officer. “Donations received from our 2021 Friends of Hospice Appeal will provide us with additional resources to serve our veterans.”
