Apr. 28, 2018 – I am once again off to Uganda, sitting in the Airport in Amsterdam. The decision to come was rather “unplanned” until several weeks ago when I learned the exact dates of the Road to Hope Children’s Camp. Since they don’t interfere with another commitment I have later in May I decided to be present at the camp and to see the children. It’s difficult to stay away from them, especially when they all come together. I’ll be able to assist with some preparations and after with an assessment.
I also hope to develop an evaluation tool to use with the children who participated in the Empowerment Retreat this past February. I realized we did not get their input at the end of the retreat – although they were enthusiastic and had great things to say about their time together. It would be good to have some documentation and some of their specific ideas for the future.
Of course, it is always good to see my “Ugandan family” and friends. There are many things that draw me back to what someone once described to me as “the land God painted green,” and to the genuine hospitality and friendships. My time will be brief, but I anticipate being busy!
Once again, I appreciate your prayers for safe travels and good health!
