Join us as we dedicate items that were donated in honor or memory of veterans at the Captain Robert J. Hiler Jr. Veterans Memorial.
Please join us for the ceremony featuring guest speaker Colonel Charles M. Freel, United States Air Force. Col. Freel is the Commander of Air Force ROTC Detachment 225 and a professor of aerospace studies at the University of Notre Dame.
Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Freel served as the Director of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Pacific Air Forces, Join Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
Colonel Free is a 1998 graduate from Officer Training School. His previous assignments include:
- Tactical intelligence support for F-15C and F-16 fighter wings
- Instructor and Chief of Academics at the United States Air Force Weapons School
- Chief of wing intelligence for Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska
Colonel Freel has received multiple awards and decorations:
- Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster
- Defense Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf clusters
- Air Force Achievement Medal
- Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal
- Iraq Campaign Medal
- Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal
- Korea Defense Service Medal
- Defense Cooperation Award Shield Third Class (Japan Air Self-Defense Force)
The ceremony will be followed by a reception.

The Veterans Tribute Ceremony will take place on Center for Hospice Care’s Mishawaka Campus at 501 Comfort Place in Mishawaka, next to Central Park.
