Center for Hospice Care’s (CHC) annual Gardens of Remembrance and Renewal event took place on Tuesday, June 4th. The late afternoon sun shone down on the memorial bricks and benches as families gathered to remember their loved ones. The sound of the pond could be heard in the solemn atmosphere before the ceremony.
This event is special for families and friends because it gives them an opportunity to memorialize their loved one in a tangible way with bricks, benches, or flowering trees. At this year’s ceremony three benches and 24 bricks were dedicated. Guests were welcomed by Chris Taelman, chief development officer of the Hospice Foundation (HF). After Mark Murray, president and CEO of CHC and HF, concluded his remarks, CHC bereavement counselor Greg Suderman led the crowd in a response litany.
The purchase of memorial items helps CHC keep its 40-year long promise that
no one eligible for its services will be turned away regardless of their ability to pay. This annual event takes place on CHC’s Elkhart Campus on the first Tuesday in June. If you are interested in purchasing a memorial item for placement at the upcoming June 2nd event, please visit: FoundationForHospice.org/give-elkhart-campus or contact Heidi Payton at PaytonH@FoundationForHospice.org.
